Cancun Airport Immigration & Customs Guide

Arriving at Cancun International Airport on an international flight? Travelers normally complete immigration, collect their luggage and proceed through customs before entering the arrivals area.

Immigration at Cancun Airport

After leaving the aircraft, international passengers proceed to immigration. Travelers should have their valid passport and any visa or immigration documentation required for their nationality ready for inspection.

Travelers arriving in Mexico by air generally do not need to complete or carry the traditional paper Forma Migratoria Multiple (FMM). Immigration information is processed upon entry into Mexico, and eligible travelers can access their Digital Multiple Immigration Form (FMMd) after arrival.

Automated Immigration Gates

Cancun International Airport has automated immigration gates in Terminals 3 and 4 for eligible travelers. Eligibility depends on factors including passport type, age and purpose of travel.

Baggage Claim

After immigration, proceed to the baggage claim area and collect your luggage. Check the airport information screens for the carousel assigned to your flight.

Customs at Cancun Airport

After collecting your luggage, proceed through Mexican customs. Travelers must comply with Mexico's customs rules and declare goods, currency or other items when required.

Travelers carrying cash, documents receivable or a combination exceeding the equivalent of US $10,000 must declare the amount to Mexican customs authorities.

Once you have completed immigration, baggage claim and customs, continue toward the airport exit and arrivals area.
